Applications in hydrogeology

The main geophysical methods applied in hydrogeology are the electrical and electromagnetic methods. They are based on the electrical resistivity measurement, which shows strong variations in this type of research.

Resistivimeter Syscal ProMajor applications are:

  • Geological knowledge: Contacts between different materials, layer depth, faults and fractures locations, definition of dips and alteration areas.

  • Indirect location of water, based on previous geological knowledge. Structures and layer associated with the presence of water are defined. Only the nuclear magnetic resonance jogging can directly locate water.

  • Definition of marine intrusion zones.

  • Location of water table.

  • Karst zone studies.
